Wouldn’t we all want to listen?
Planet Earth is a vast and interconnected living system. Gaia theories aside, this got us thinking…
Whilst meaningful steps on environmental issues are being taken at a local level, many people still don’t engage with looming issues like global warming et al.
Hardly surprising as it all seems very complicated, difficult to fathom, and let’s be honest, we’re often a bit too busy to take in all the sciencey stuff.
So we wondered …what if planet Earth could speak for itself?
Suddenly Earth is an entirely relatable, somewhat troubled individual; suffering / coping through humour and irony. We all know someone like this!
Ever so slightly surreal yet ever so slightly profound: could Earth itself* convey its own fresh perspective from the point of view of a regular, every day, living planet?
The great thing is that our character can be poignant, funny and relevant in almost any familiar daily situation. Yes, this idea has legs.

Early sketches
The original idea from Antony Turner has been developed by Dave Forman and cartoonist Ewan McLeish.
The team at The Real Planet Earth CIC already has a stack of cartoon sketches and ideas. We could also get super-excited about short-form live action — maybe on-the-streets live action too.
The great thing is that our character can be poignant, funny, relevant in almost any situation and help get across serious messages.
Can you help?
You might be…
- scientists with a story – maybe we can create a satirical counterpoint?
- government departments needing fresh attitude to communicate
- environmental NGO – want some sass and sparkle for your campaign?
- marketing organisations – science can be a bit dry, let us help moisten your creative process
- billionaires giving something back to help the transition to a liveable future
If you are interested in being involved in any way please get in touch.
